Who Said He Was Too Old?

Well the title says it all, when I spoke to James just before he rode off into the sunset with his normal bag full of swag ( ACGA Trophies ) I had to ask him "How do you feel now you have won your 1st major?" He said 25; I got fed up of turning over Ossie, Caswell, CJ and Ray in the seniors so I thought I'd go for the big boys.

James Noel at the tender age of 55+ won the Weekend fixture at Meon Valley to claim his 1st major.  Meon Valley can be a brute of a course over 2 days, and this weekend was no different.

This was a 1st class performance shooting a total of 67 points over 36 holes.  His nearest rival was Bose Sreedharan who finished 2nd 4 shots back on 63.  This was also the1st time that Bose has collected some silverware so a big well done to you too sir.  In 3rd place was Randy Ploughwright also with a score of 63, just missing out on count back, and the same would apply for the 4th and 5th positions with 4th place going to that old war horse, with a never say die attitude Tony Irish and 5th place was taken by Leo Faure.

There was another noticeable effort over the two days, Cora Edwards was out in the leaders group on the last day with James and Del but just finished outside the main prizes but she did manage to get a few bob back in the sweep.  It is great to have Cora, Jackie and Alydth in the association, these girls give as good as they get and it is only a short matter of time before one of them claim an ACGA Major  golf day.

So, moments to savour

James and Bose collecting their 1st major pieces of silverware.

The look on the faces of all the guys when they thought they had to go home and tell the wife they got beat by a girl.

Lots of fun and laughter and I’m sure no other association in the country can do a weekend away like the ACGA does. It can not be possible with out you guys and girls.  So until Captains Day practice hard and play well.
