Congratulations go to
all members who attended
for conducting
themselves to the
highest standards
without having to be
reminded that they were
representing both
themselves and the
Association.
OK to business. The
course was not
considered “difficult”
given its wide open
spaces and very few out
of bounds. However, the
course still required
accurate driving and
ball placement to ensure
the benefits that the
course had to offer were
taken advantage of. At
the end of the first
days play there were no
complaints about the
condition or standard of
the course. Top 4 at the
end of 18 holes were as
follows:
Stuart Austrie – 40
points
Randy Plowright – 39
Points
Sedwick Gordon – 38
points
Jacqui Harbour – 36
points
A fantastic score by
Stuart who continues to
demonstrate a rich vein
of form. Special mention
must go to Jacqui
Harbour for making a top
4 finish for the first
time. Clearly she was
not attending just to
make up the numbers and
I for one am pleased
with her passion and
commitment both to her
golf, her gender and the
Association. A mention
must also go to Cora
Edwards who finished
with 33 points after the
first day. There is more
than enough evidence
around to provide notice
that these girls are
looking for a podium
finish.
There were a large
number of golfers on 33
points or more all of
whom were in with a
shout of the title.
Day 2 started at 7.54
for the leading group
and again the round was
played out in warm,
glorious sunshine.
Stuart Austrie carried
on where he left off.
Some would say he did
enough to win whilst
keeping his eye on the
title. I say he played
the pants off all of us
and won it the first day
and only had to play in
his comfort zone the
following day. Final
scores were:
Steve Garner – 41 points
Chris Thomas – 37 points
Keith Murray – 37 points
Cassius Brown – 36
points
With a score of 35
points Stuart held off
the field but a special
mention must go to Steve
Garner who tore the
course up with a
stunning 41 points.
Well done Stuart for
another great
performance and a lesson
to us all that a visit
the Handicap Doctor
should not be an excuse
for poor future
performance.
