ACGA 2008 CAPTAIN'S NOTE
Thank
you to Andy, Greg, Mike
and Austin for renewing
their commitment to be
part of the committee
and a personal thank you
to Frank and Steve, I
know it was not in your
plan to be Secretary and
vice captain your
support is most
welcomed.
2008 will see us enter
our 15th year
and hopefully we have
put together an exciting
programme of events for
all the members new and
old. What can we look
forward to, just before
we do, a quick reminder
of some of the
highlights in 2007
Milton Marsh.
Mike Woodstock. Steve
Garner. Chris
"record breaking"
Thomas. Colin Parson.
James Noel and Mark
Henry all major
winners. The Singles
match play title went to
Malcolm O'Garro,
well done to you all.
The ACGA teams went on
their travels to the
West Country to beat the
Titans. But we still
have some work to do,
scores to settle as we
lost to the Cypriots and
the Pals.
Our 2007 order of
merit champion is
*Chris Thomas*
Benton Hall will open
our 15th year
journey with the
champion's event. We
then move on to the
Pairs (replacing the
singles for this year
only) we aim to carry on
the fine work that Dean
Witter does with the
Winter Pairs League. Our
main event for 2008 will
be at Woburn Country
Club where we hope
to see all our members
in attendance for our
15th year anniversary
celebration. This
year we also have two
weekenders one in April
and one later in the
year in September. Two
new courses to look
forward to in Wildwood
and Donnington Grove.
Our hope as always is to
make our days value for
money, exciting and
enjoyable for everyone
in attendance.
I would like to thank
Roger Goddard who
will now take up the
post of Five Year Plan
Chairman. Roger and the
sub-committee will be
looking at 2009 and
onwards and the best
ways to grow the ACGA.
It will be the FYP
committee's goal to put
in place the commitments
laid out in the FYP
(available on
www.acga.co.uk)
Hopefully by now you
have been putting the
dates in your diaries,
got your payments off to
Andy for the up and
coming events and making
sure May 2nd
is blocked out for
Woburn. I look
forward to another
glorious golfing year
and being your captain
for 2008
