Murray Takes the Crown as ACGA Kicks Off in Style at Abridge
The ACGA season got off to a flying start on Friday 10th April, as members gathered at the ever-impressive Abridge Golf Club in Essex for the first Major of the year and what a way to open the campaign. With the course in excellent condition and the energy high, this wasn’t just another society day. This was Captain Randy Plowright’s first official event leading his newly appointed committee, and by all accounts, it was a resounding success.
But while the Captain set the tone, it was Keith Murray who stole the show.
Producing a composed and clinical performance, Keith navigated Abridge with confidence to take 1st place, setting the early benchmark for the season. A strong start, a well-earned victory, and a message to the rest of the field… he’s one to watch this year. Hot on his heels was Colin Parson, securing 2nd place with a solid round, followed by Dave Sargeant in 3rd, continuing his consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard. Frank Skinner and Captain Randy Plowright himself rounded out the top 5, the skipper clearly leading from the front, both on and off the course.
New Faces & Fresh Energy
The day also marked an important moment for the Association, as we welcomed a number of players into the ACGA fold. Fiona Dunning, Jessica Sandy and Damion Queva all made their debuts as fully fledged members, bringing fresh energy and quality to the society. We look forward to seeing their journeys unfold over the course of the season. A special mention as well to Gerry Daley, who completed his final qualifying round, with membership now firmly within touching distance.
Guest Appearances
As always, the ACGA extended its trademark hospitality to a strong group of guests:
Clyde Murray
Earl Palmer
Rodney Vitalis
Charles Sam
Peter Baglee
Marc Butler
We hope you all enjoyed the day and experienced first-hand what makes ACGA such a unique and welcoming society. The door is always open.
A Strong Start to the Season
With great golf, new members, returning faces, and a smooth first outing under the new leadership team, Abridge set the standard for what promises to be a fantastic 2026 season. If this opening Major is anything to go by, we’re in for a year full of competition, camaraderie, and quality golf. And for now…
Keith Murray leads the way. 🏆
